What is the ICDAS scale?
staging caries from 1-6
0 is sound
What is a score of 0 (IDCAS)?
sound tooth surfaces, no evidence of visible caries
What is a score of 1 and 2 (IDCAS)?
Initial stage caries
first or distinct visual changes in enamel
discolouration or carious opacity
What is a score of 3 and 4 (IDCAS)?
A white or brown spot lesion with localised enamel breakdown, without visible dentine exposure (code 3)
or an underlying dentine shadow (code 4)
What is a score of 5 and 6 (IDCAS)?
A DISTINCT CAVITY IN OPAQUE OR DISCOLOURED ENAMEL WITH VISIBLE DENTINE
