DRUG NAME: Dopamine

BRAND NAME: Inotropin

CLASS NAME: Adrenergic Inotropic Agent

MOA: Stimulates A1 & B1 also Stimulates Dopaminergic Receptors DA1 and DA2

INDICATIONS: Heart Failure with Systolic BP of 70-100 mmHG, Post Rec. Stabilization, 2nd Line for Bradycardia

CONTRAINDICATIONS: hypersensitivity, Pheochromocytoma, V-Fib, Hypovolemia

PEDS DOSE:1-5 mcg/kg/min not to exceed 50mcg/kg/min

ADULT DOSE:5-20 mcg/kg/min titration to effect 50mcg/kg/min

SIDE EFFECTS:Headache, Tachycardia, hypertension/hypotension,tachdisrythmias, Dyspnea, palpitations, Chest Pain

HALF LIFE: Less than 10 minutes

MOA:Raises Blood and Urine PH

INDICATIONS:TcA Overdose, Crush Syndrome,Cardiac Arrest w/hyperkalemia

CONTRAINDICATIONS:Hypersensitivity, Metabolic and Resp Alkalosis, Hypernatremia, hypokalemia,Hypocalcemia

PEDS DOSE: Same As Adult

ADULTS DOSE: 1mEq/kg IV/IO slow push

SIDE EFFECTS: Electrolyte imbalance, Heart Failure, Seizures, Pulmonary Edema,Tremors

CLASS: Benzo

MOA: CNS Depression

INDICATIONS: Seizures, Anxiety, Chemical Restraint

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity, Narrow-Angle Glaucoma, Neuro and resp. depression, Bradycardia, Shock, Suspected overdose.

PEDS DOSE: (Chemical Restraint) 0.5 mg/kg 2mg Max IV 0.05mg/kg 4mg max IM (Seizure) 0.1mg/kg with 4mg Max IV/IO

ADULTS DOSE: (Chemical Restraint) 2mg IV or 3mg IM (Seizure) 4mg IV/IO/IM

SIDE EFFECTS: Resp. Depression, Hypotension, Brady, Headaches, Dizziness.

HALF LIFE: 6-8 Hours

CLASS: Opioid analgesic

MOA: Alleviates pain through CNS action, decreases venous return and myocardial oxygen demand, decreases preload and afterload

INDICATIONS: Management of acute pain

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity, upper airway diseases, undiagnosed head or abdominal injuries, heart failure due to chronic lung disease, MAOI use in the last 14 days.

PEDS DOSE: 0.1mg/kg IV/IO (Call Medic Command per PA protocol)

ADULTS DOSE: 2-10mg SC/IM/IV

SIDE EFFECTS: Respiratory depression, hypertension, syncope, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, apnea, drowsiness

HALF LIFE: 2-3 hours
