What is mission command?
Mission command is when a commander gives clear orders and goals, allowing their team to act independently within those guidelines, promoting quick thinking and adaptability during military operations.
What should commander’s provide subordinates during mission command?
Their intent, the purpose of the operations, the key task, their desired end state, and resources.
What are the six principles of mission command?
1.) Build cohesive teams through mutual trust
2.) Create shared understanding
3.) Provide clear commanders intent
4.) Exercise disciplined initiative

What is a commander’s intent?
The commander’s intent is a clear and concise expression of the purpose of the operations and the desired military end state that supports mission commands, provides focus to the staff, and helps subordinates and supporting commanders act to achieve the commanders desired results without further orders, even when the operations does not unfold as planned.
What are mission orders?
Mission orders are directives that emphasize to subordinates the results to be attained, not how they are to achieve them.
What is command?
The authority that a commander in the Armed Forces lawfully exercise over subordinates by virtue of rank or assignment.
What is a disciplined initiative?
Actions in the absence of orders, when existing orders no longer fit the situation, or when unforeseen opportunities or threats arise.
What are some examples of equipment needed to sustain a mission command system?
Vehicles, generators, and lighting
How do staff members assist the commanders?
Staff assist the commanders in the details of planning, preparing, executing, and assessing by conducting the operations process.
What army regulation covers the total army sponsorship program?
AR 600-8-8
What D.A form is used to transmit sponsorship requirement to gaining commands? How soon after the DA Form is received should a sponsor be assigned?
DA form 5434 and 10 days unless the sponsorship is declined.
What is the general rule for appointing a sponsor?
The sponsor should be equal grade or higher and the sponsor should be the same sex (gender), familiar with the unit or activity and community.
