  • teachers had to join the german league of teachers and teach what the nazis wanted, or be sacked
  • ever subject was used to put forward nazi propaganda; in history, they learnt about great german military victories; in science, they learnt about weapon-making
  • a new lesson was introduced called eugenics which meant “race studies”; children learnt about the inferiority of black people, Slavs, Jews etc.
  • textbooks were rewritten to put forward Nazi propaganda
  • PE became important for the boys who were preparing for the army
  • cooking and sewing were a part of the girls’ timetables to prepare them for motherhood
  • any students who were seen to be potential future nazi leaders were sent to special academies called ‘NAPOLAS’

  • the nazis didn’t regard university education as important and so not many people attended university in this era
  • for the people that did, their courses had to be rewritten to reflect nazi beliefs
  • professors were handpicked by the nazis
