The nervous system Flashcards
How is the nervous system structured?
It is split up into CNS and peripheral nervous system, CNS contains brain and spinal chord, PNS split into autonomic, somatic, ANS broken into symathetic and parasympethetic
central nervous system?
info is proccesed
PNS?
body wide messenger - neuron network - sensory - info to brain - motor - brain back out to the body
Autonomic nervous system?
controls actions of internal organs and glands(involuntary actions)
somatic nervous system?
controls muscles - voluntary movements
sympathetic?
increases bodily activity, flight or fight response, increase things like heart and breathing rate
parasymathetic?
decrease bodily activity, activates in rest
homeostasis?
to keep everything balanced
