What are the 6 steps of a first aider?

A

1- Asses the situation calmly (how safe is the environment, what caused the issue and how many are injured?).

2- Protect yourself and the causality (protect yourself first and only move the causality of leaving them will cause them more harm. If you can’t make them safe, call 999).

3- Prevent infection (clean your hands, put on gloves or bags and don’t breath over the wound).

4- Comfort and reassure the causality.

5- Assess the causality and give first aid (prioritise the emergency patients).

6- Call 999.

What is the Application Of Health And Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981?

A

This requires the employers to ensure immediate first aid attention is given, conduct a workplace assessment, provide first aid training, adequate facility’s and employees will report any issues.
This legislation aims to ensure the health, safety and well fair of employees via adequate provision.
Additionally, employers provide and appointed person, first aid kit and record, report and put in special considerations.
