functions of the autonomic nervous sytem

A

System which automatically regulates the
activities of involuntary smooth muscles, cardiac muscles and glands which
are not under the control of our will is called ANS.
*Significance of ANS → It plays an important role in maintaining the
constant internal environment (homeostasis).
*Divisions of ANS-
1.Sympathetic NS- Fear, Fight or Flight
2.Parasympathetic NS- Rest or Digest
*Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nervous system are antagonistic to each
other. Both help in maintaining the constant internal environment
