Oxidative Phosphorylation Flashcards
1
Q
Where does this take place?
A
-inner mitochondrial membrane that is folded into cristae
2
Q
What has been produced so far in the cycle?
A
- 4 x ATP, 10 x NADH, 2 x FADH, 6 x CO2
3
Q
What are the 4 steps to oxidative phosphorylation?
A
- NADH + FADH releases their H ions and electrons
- electrons produce energy for active transport carrier proteins to move H ions across membrane against grad
- H ions diffuse back through channel proteins of ATP synthase that regenerate the ATP from ADP + Pi
- more NADH + FADH are always arriving so the excess bond with oxygen to form water
