A

-More common with varus knee

S/S:
- Crepitus
- Flexion contracture
- Antalgic gait
- Swipe test/patellar tap

If loose bodies in the joint present
**Hallmark: locking/catching

Rx:
- Joint traction
- OKC
- Isometrics through range

- Groin pain
- Osteophytes

–>causing Hallux valgus

Gout attack

A
  • Due to inc. uric acid
  • Most common: Knee & great toe of foot

PT Mx:
- Acute: pain Mx, rest, restore normal flexibility and function
Do not exercise a red, hot, swollen joint

A
  • Painful swollen joints
    **Caused by different type of crystals (CaPO4)

  2. Osteophytes
  3. Subchondral cysts
  4. Subchondral sclerosis (increased bone density)

Septic Arthritis

A

Local S&S:
* Unable to move the limb
* Intense joint pain
* Joint swelling, redness

Systemic S&S:
- Fever
- Chills
- Tachycardia
