Q

Define “Fail Passive”

A

Fail Passive is when in the event of a failure, there is no significant out-of-trim condition or deviation of flight path or attitude but the landing is not completed automatically

Q

Define “Fail Operational”

A

Fail Operational is when in the event of a failure below alert height, the approach, flare and landing can be completed by the remaining part of the automatic system. In event of a failure, the automatic landing system will operate as a fail-passive sytem

11
Q

Define “Alert Height”

A

Height above the runway above which a CAT III approach would be discontinued, and a missed approach initiated if a failure occurred in one of the relevant parts of the auto-land system
When a failure occurs below AH, the system ignores it and the approach can be continued

19
Q

What does the implementation of LVP/SSP procedures ensure?

A

The OFZ (obstacle free zone) and the LSA (Localizer sensitive Area) are clear and protected

20
Q

From what distance from the runway end does the edge lights turn alternating Yellow and White?

A

2000 ft / 600m

21
Q

What is the light configuration for RETILs (Rapid Exit Taxiway Indicator Lights)?

A

6 Yellow lights adjacent to the centerline in a 3/2/1 pattern spaced 100m apart, the single light is 100m from the start of turn to the exit.
60m before the start of the turn the lights become alternating Yellow and Green

22
Q

What is the maximum speed during LVO Taxi operations?

A

10 kts

23
Q

Can we use FLEX takeoff for a LVTO?

A

No, has to be TOGA

24
Q

What is the benefit of using TOGA instead of FLEX for a LVTO?

A

TOGA generally results in lower takeoff speeds

25
Q

What LVTO RVR is HKE currently approved for?

A

RVR 150 - 300m RVR depending on state. Check table

26
Q

Below what altitude is the Yaw Bar displayed on take-off?

A

Below 30 ft RA

27
Q

Define “Decision Height”

A

The Wheel Height above the runway by which a Go-Around must be initiated, unless adequate visual reference have been established

28
Q

What DH should be used on a CAT II approach:
Chart minima or HKE minima?

A

When a higher minima is on the chart, it should be used

29
Q

If no DH is published for a CAT II/III approach on a approach chart, what minima should be used?

A

HKE approved minima

30
Q

What are the visual requirements at DH for a CAT IIIB approach?

A

1 Centerline light

31
Q

What are the visual requirements at DH for a CAT IIIA approach?

A

3 Consecutive lights
Centerline of approach lights or
Touchdown zone lights or
Runway Centerline lights or
Runway Edge lights or a combination of all these

32
Q

What are the visual requirements at DH for a CAT II approach?

A

3 Consecutive lights
Centerline of approach lights or
Touchdown zone lights or
Runway Centerline lights or
Runway Edge lights or a combination of all these

BUT

It must include a lateral element of the ground pattern to establish lateral position and cross-track velocity

33
Q

On a LVO approach, what is DH referenced to?

A

Radio Altimeter

34
Q

When is the AUTOLAND red light warning triggered for LVO approaches?

A

Below 200 ft RA in LAND or FLARE mode

35
Q

What triggers the AUTOLAND red light warning triggered for LVO approaches?

A
  • Autopilots are lost
  • 1/4 dot LOC deviation above 15 ft RA
  • 1 dot G/S deviation above 100 ft RA
  • Loss of LOC signals above 15 ft RA
  • Loss of G/S signal above 100 ft RA
  • Difference between both RA:s are greater than 15 ft
36
Q

When can you revert to higher minima on a LVO approach?

A

Only above 1000 ft

37
Q

What failures shall trigger a go-around on a LVO approach?

A
  • ILS course not displayed or incorrect
  • No “LAND” indication on the FMA
  • AUTOLAND warning light
  • No “FLARE” indication on the FMA
  • Long Flare detected
38
Q

What is the HKE recommended Flap configuration for LVO approaches?

A

Conf FULL

39
Q

How can you satisfy yourself that LVO are in force before conducting an LVO approach?

A

Could be on ATIS
Clearance for an CAT II/III approach satisfy that

40
Q

What are your first actions after a rejected T/O in LVO conditions?

A

Put all lights ON

41
Q

Which lights should be switched off on final approach when doing an LVO approach?

A

STROBES
TURN OFF
LAND and NOSE lights

42
Q

Describe PM:s actions and callouts on an LVO approach?

A

Below 400 ft:
- Check flight path and Autoflight modes and
- Call deviations

Monitor:
“ONE HUNDRED ABOVE”
“MINIMUM” at DH

Call:
“FLARE” at 50-40 ft
“IDLE” at 30 ft
“ROLL OUT”
“SPOILERS”
“REVERSE GREEN”
“DECEL”
“70 KTS”

43
