Definition of a crisis (1)
One’s perception or experiencing of an event or situation as an intolerable difficulty that exceeds the person’s current resources and coping mechanisms
Definition of Crisis (2)
A period of intense difficulty, emergency or challenge that require prompt decision and action that may help prevent/avoid calamity, including serious injuries or death.
Definition of a Disaster
A disaster is a critical event much wider in scope than a crisis. It is the sudden occurrence of an unfavourable situation that causes serious disruption to the social routine. It endangers a larger social space, and while it occurs much less frequently than emergencies, the effects are graver, often causing multiple casualties and/or property damage.
Crisis and Disaster
Crisis: In mental health terms, a crisis refers not necessarily to a traumatic situation or event, but to a person’s reaction to an event. One person might be deeply affected by an event, while another individual suffers little or no ill effects.
Disaster: A disaster is a sudden, calamitous event that seriously disrupts the functioning of a society and causes human, material, and environmental losses that exceed the society’s ability to cope using its own resources.

Self-Esteem: How much value/worth you place on yourself and centres on Confidence in your abilities, Self-acceptance, not worrying about what others think and Optimism
Ideal-Self: What you wish you were really like. How others/significant others react to you, How you compare to others, Our social roles and The extent to which we identify with other people
