Definition of the Family
The family can be categorized as a group of one or more parents and their children living together as a unit who demonstrate respect and understanding for each other, by expressing love, care and concern through quality time for each other. Additionally, the family supports each other in tie of need and challenging times.

Step Family

Types of Families
Nuclear: Two parents and children
Single Parent: A mom or dad with children
Extended: Two or more adults and children living in the same household, who are related
Childless: A couple living together with no children
Step Parents: eg. Divorce families coming together with their children
Grandparent: grandparents who are raising children whose parents are not in their lives.
Parenting Styles
Authoritarian parenting
High parental control with little warmth
Authoritative parenting
A fair degree of parental control with being warm and responsive to children
Indulgent-permissive parenting
Warmth and caring but little parental control
Indifferent-uninvolved parenting
Neither warmth nor control
