Quality Assurance Flashcards
How should you assess the receptor
o Check for visible damage to casing/wiring
o Check if clean
How should you assess image uniformity
o Expose receptor to an unattenuated X-ray beam and check if resulting image is uniform
How do we assess image quality
Test object xray and assess resulting image against baseline - can use step wedge (overlapping layers of lead foil)
How does damage to phosphor plates present
o White lines = scratches
o Network of white lines = cracking from flex
o White areas around edges = delamination (separation of phosphor layer from baseplate)
How does receptor damage impact solid state sensors
o White squares/straight lines = sensor damage
How does receptor damage appear on film
o Receptor damage often appears as black marks due to sensitisation of radiographic emulsion
o May appear white if emulsion is scraped off
What is teh cause of cone cutting
o Incorrect assembly of receptor holder
o Incorrect alignment between X-ray tube and receptor holder
o Incorrect orientation of rectangular collimator
What is the cause of an image being doo dark or light
o Exposure factors
o Developing factors (film)
o Viewing factors
