Q

What does low levels of dopamine cause

A
  1. SN and Straium degration= increase in GABA decrease in Dopamine
  2. low levels of dopamine = increase production of acetylcholine leading to impaired mobility
  3. Leading to tremors and ridigity

Q

How does Dopamine work in the system

A
  1. Dopamine is synthesised in two steps 1. trysone
  2. Dopamine is release to post synpatic and reuptaked by glial to mao and comt
  3. MAO are found in the glial cells

Q

What does Levedopa do

A
  1. Precursor of Dopamine is used due to the BBB- the molecules can pass through with the levedopsa but not dopamine
  2. Levadopa has two problems in the PNS as there are two enzymes that breakdown levedopa before reaching the brain
  3. PDC convert levodopa to dopa and COMT Levodopa to 3OMD
  4. Levodopa is administered with another agent carbidopa which inhibits dopa decarboxylase reducing the metablism of levodopa
  5. Entacapone inhits COMT prolobng time levodopa is avaible to the brain
  6. Levodopa to dopamine in the brain
