DNA, and in some cases RNA, is the primary source of heritable information.

What are the characteristics of DNA and RNA that allow them both to be used as hereditary material?
A
DNA and RNA store information as nitrogen base sequences. Base pairing occurs with specific pyrimidines always pairing with specific purines. This base pairing is conserved through evolution.
