Analysis
Othello thinks highly of himself.
He has worked hard to get to the position he is at.
Hints at his insecurities as he already is triumphant to prove himself.

‘I’ll see before I doubt’
Analysis
suggests Othello isn’t a rational person and requires evidence before turning to jealousy. Also that he has some trust within Desdemona and his feelings for him. Juxtaposes what Iago has said previously regarding his naivety.

killing myself, to die upon a kiss”

Analysis
Suggests he doesn’t truly want to hurt her, he just knows it is what’s best for his reputation as
otherwise it will be destroyed.
If he had never loved or kissed her, she never would have died. So, Othello kisses her again and kills himself, as his personal repentance.

Analysis
Othello is at war with his inner conflict. He suggests his love for desdemona has become so indulging that regardless there will always be chaos attached, especially with the news of the affair.

Analysis
Contradicts his stereotype as a black male to be violent and dangerous. Suggests he’s calm and concentrates on peace and this is one of the first appearances we see of him.
