Q

What is shear strength ?

A

The ability to resist sliding forces on a parallel plane ( it prevents the material from its internal structure to slide against itself )

Q

What is Torsional strength ?

A

the ability to withstand twisting forces from applied torque or torsion - the ability to withstand twisting forces when things such as torques ( twisting forces are applied )

Q

What is Ductility ?

A

The ability to be drawn out under tension - reducing the cross-sectional areas without cracking for e.g. stretching a material into a wire

Q

What is malleability ?

A

The ability to withstand deformation by compression without cracking - malleability increases with a rise in temperature - a material is more malleable when its more warm
