A

Hypothalomus connects to the piuitory gland
Anterior: Short axons release ihibitory or release hormones into the blood portal to travel to anterior pituitory gland
Posterior: Longer axons tranvel down into the posterior pituitory gland and release hormones into the blood

A

Oxytosin - Stimulates child birth
stimulates positive feedback of milk release when child succles

Anti diuretic hormone: triggered when dehydrated, kidneys reabsorb water into blood

What is the general pathway of stimulation of anterior pituitory gland

A

Hypothalomus send a release of inhibiting hormone
hormone binds to membrane receptors on anterior piuitary cells which are then release another hormone from the anterior pituitory gland
Responding effect of the effected endocrine organ

Negative feedback to both hypothalamus and pituitory gland

A

Hypothalomus releases thyrotropin release hormon (TRH)
anterior pituitoy release Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
Thyroid releases thyroid hormone 3+4 (lipid solubles)
they act to increase the overall basal metabloic rate

What is the process involved in producing T3 and T4

A

In the thyroid we have follicals surrounded by cells
in the follicals = Thyroglobin which has Tryosine
In the cells Iodin is located - either 3 or 4 iodine binds to tryosine to form T3 or T4
Can be stored until needed and released via carrier proteins in the blood

What is the growth hormone secreation processes

A

Stimulus = sleep / excercises
Hyperthalomus releases growth hormone releasing hormone
anterior pituitory releases growth hormone
growth hormone cuases the mobilisation of fule via liver skeletal muscle and adipose tissue
Will also release insulin growth factor 1 (IGF-1) from the liver
Will have negative feedback to both hypothalomus and anterior pituitory to reduce the release of GHRH and GH
positive feedback loop to hypothalamus to relases GHIH.
