When did industrialization start to begin?
around 1750s
When did the age of Imperialism start to begin? Where was this imperialism focused on and why?
around 1850s-1950s. Asia and Africa, because LA by that time already freed themselves
What were the consequences of industrial tech.?
- advancements in weaponry
- efficiency in factories
Where did the Industrial Rev. begin
Britain due to it’s geographical advantage of coal
What was the domestic system?
A very inefficient way to make products (one person at a time)
What are some ways that the industry improved?
-the assembly line by Ford
-new industrial tech; spinning jenny
-steam powered machines; by Watt
How were the conditions in these early industries?
They were horrible; men, women, and children were put under horrible conditions. They were exposed to dangerous machinery, long working shifts, exposure to pollution constantly.
When did these working conditions become more recognized?
Near the 1850s labor unions were starting to rise and fight against their poor working conditions; this is due to the growing influence of the enlightenment combined with capitalism
Who is Karl Marx? How was he influential?
Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1843ish; it explained that the working class will eventually revolt against powers due to their abuses, they are revolting to ultimately end those pwrs and create reforms. This caused lots of speculation to occur within the production industry
What did Marxism create?
Socialism and Communism
What is the Factory Act of 1883?
Britain lessening work hours
What was Social Mobility?
The ability for one person to move to different social classes. This was more common within this period.
