15
Q

continuous seizure activity
very short periods of calm between
greater danger of hypoxia, acidosis, hpoglycemia, hyperthermia

A

status epilepticus

16
Q

seizure actions plan

A

in place until seizure free for 1yr

:either end seizure meds or lower dose

17
Q

postical period interventions

post ictal

A

monitor vitals
perform neuro checks
ensure safety

18
Q

nursing diagnoses

A

ineffective breathing pattern
ineffective airway clearance
chronic low self esteem

19
Q

during seizure, dont hang…

A

dont hang D5W
removes fluid out of cells (hypertonic)
hang NS or lactated ringers
want things to stay in cells (isotonics)

20
Q

EEG pt teaching

A

no caffeine for 6-9hrs prior to procedure
wash hair before procedure
food may be consumed morning of procedure
sleep may be withheld prior to test and induced during test
