19 PFS Flashcards
(23 cards)
GPA (Gunner’s Panel Assembly)
- GCP
- Gunner’s Color Display
- Gunner’s Handles
Located in Gunner’s Station.
CRA (Card Rack Assembly)
Central Processor for the ATGM and its fire control components.
Receives and distributes data between VDT, CCP, LCP, GPA, FCS, TIA, and TAS.
Implements auto azimuth and elevation stops when Platform Control is set to load.
Routes RS-170 video to VDT and Gunner’s colour display.
Induces Line of Fire inhibits, Hatch Open inhibits, Firing Obstacle inhibits.
Fires Smoke Grenade Launchers.
Located to the left and behind Gunner’s Station.
GCP (Gunner’s Control Panel)
Provides Gunner with controls and indicators required for ETS operation.
Platform Mode Switch: Load, Missile 1, Missile 2, Raise/Stow
Launching EQPT Switch: 1. Safe/Abort (also wire cutter activation), 2. Insert Umbilical, 3. Trigger enable.
Mast Switch: ON position = power to Elevation Drive Assembly / OFF = power to EADA
Gunner’s Handles
Left:
FLTR, BCF, SGT SEL, Menu, FOV Switches and Palm Enable Switch
Right:
TRK GATE Switch, GATE ADJ Switch, LRF Button, FIRST/LAST Button, Palm Enable Switch, Fire Trigger.
Gunner’s Display
Consists of HD Color Display, Brightness and Contrast adjustment controls, and Analog/HD signal input control.
VMC (Vehicle Mounted Charger)
The VMC operates with…
Supplied Vic Power (22.5 - 28 VDC)
Provides converted conditioned output (30.85 - 32 VDC)
Nominal (31.85 VDC)
…to the FCS and MTAS.
25 VDC required to power MITAS
Auto power down (no warning) when supplied voltage is 22.5 VDC
CCP (Commander’s Control Panel)
Enables VC to monitor and override ETS functions.
Line-Of-Fire and Hatch Safety Override Switches.
Warnings: the ON positions could allow PWS fire in inhibit zone/while Hatches are open. …causing Missile to strike Vic… Death or injury to personnel could occur.
Will only power up after GPA is powered up. Runs BIT automatically during power up.
VDT (Video Display Terminal)
Five major functions:
- Allows crew to perform maintenance functions.
- Allows crew to conduct Operational functions.
- Assist crew in learning Vic systems with the ETM (Embedded Training Module).
- Interacts with DVE.
- Interacts with FBCB2/BFT/JCR.
Has 20 function keypad.
LCP (Loader’s Control Panel)
Permits Loader to move ETS platform into final position for missile loading or unloading and inhibit the Gunner’s Handles during loading process.
PEU (Power Electronics Unit)
Functions as dual axis motor controller that controls the current and voltage going to the ADA and either mast Elevation Drive Assembly or EADA.
PTA (Power Transfer Assembly)
It’s function is to transfer power from the PEU to either mast Elevation Drive Assembly or EADA depending on crew inputs.
APA (Azimuth Position Assembly)
The APA interfaces with mast azimuth ring and reports the position of the ETS in Azimuth in relation to the chassis to the CRA.
Elevation Resolver
Measures the elevation angle of the TAS and Twin TOW Missile Launcher relative to the chassis and reports position to the Card Rack Assembly.
AZ / EL Gyros
Provide CRA with launcher azimuth and elevation R A D to assist in maintaining stable motion of ETS.
PDA (Power Distribution Assembly)
Provides an enclosed case in which power is distributed to the various components of the ETS.
FCS (Fire Control Sub-System)
It contains electronic circuitry necessary for tracking targets, missile tracking and guidance, and embedded training.
FCS status monitored on Gunner’s Display.
Class 3 sensitive item; top cover must be secured with 5200 series lock.
TIA (TOW Interface Assembly)
Is an electronic interface assembly that connects the MITAS and TOW Launchers with the GPA (through CRA). Controls the wire cutters when closing (SAFE/ABORT) Launching EQPT Switch.
EADA (Elevation Angle Drive Assembly)
It functions as a 170 VDC drive motor that allows TAS and Twin TOW Missile Launcher to move independently, in elevation, from the ETS platform.
ADA (Azimuth Drive Assembly)
170 VDC motor that interfaces with azimuth gear ring to move mast in Azimuth.
Incorporates a manually operated two-speed adjustable hand wheel. (course and fine traverse modes)
TAS (Target Acquisition System)
Contains FLIR, NVS, DVO and ELRF.
Built-in auto boresight to align DVO, NVS and ELRF. Boresight on power up or 14°F temperature change.
Twin TOW Missile Launcher and Armament Control Unit
Holds two missiles; launcher locking lip assists with loading by allowing rear of missile to engage with launcher locking lip; manual locking lever and release located at center rear launcher; used to secure release TOW missiles.
ACU:
Houses two electrical connection umbilicals; two actuators that depress holdback pins in missile.
Manual Arm and Safe 3/8” drive rachet WITH EXTENSION
pFTL (Precision Far Target Locator)
