A
- First election after the war
- First past the post
- Sinn Féin wins majority of seats
- Argues that this election was for Irish parliament, not for Westminster
- Creates courts, police forces etc for State of Ireland

Anglo-Irish Treaty
A
- British dont want to betray Ulster because of great war sacrifice
- Republic out of the question, have to keep the Queen and the Crown
- Eventually Irish give in to the treaty as more fighting is just gonna lead to the same conclusion
- Creates the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland

- Split in 1920s
- Eamon de Valera & co leave and create a shadow government
- IRA rhetoric: these people the real sovereign of the republic and the ones who never betrayed it
- Goes and takes buildings, Collins blows them up
- Collins holds cities but rural areas anti-treaty
