What is the EBA + purpose and action (1)
Emergency Banking Act- To improve the banks and restore the confidence of the American people in the banking system
Banks were closed for 4 days
President encouraged people to invest in banks with Fireside chats
What is FERA + purpose and action (1)
Federal Emergency Relief Administration- Gave federal money to the states to help the unemployed and provide necessity of life, helped people get out of poverty
Government gave each state $1 back for every $3 spent on relief of poverty, Spent $500 million total
What is AAA + purpose and action (1)
Agricultural Adjustment Act- Help farmers increase their profits
-Schemes were introduced to reduce their production and so to drive up the price of their produce.

National Recovery Admin - To encourage employers to improve industrial workers’ pay and conditions and to charge fair prices
- Codes of practice were drawn up (minimum wage, hour and conditions)
What is TVA + purpose and action (1)
Tennessee Valley Authority- Set up to help farmers and others in the Tennessee valley- half of its population, 2.5 million people were living below the poverty line
-Provided cheap hydroelectric power to the farms
20 Dams were constructed to prevent flooding and provide cheap electricity

Farm Credit Administration- To give farmers loans so they wouldn’t lose their farms
-Made loans so a fifth of farmers to help out their farms

Civilian Conservation Corps- Gave men under 25 work as well as helping the countryside by getting them to clear land, plant trees to stop soil erosion and strengthening river banks
-Gave jobs to single men under 25
Gave them food, clothing and $1 a day to send home to their parents

Civilian Works Administration- Short term scheme- give as many people jobs as possible (4 million over the winter of 1933-1934)
-Gave lots of jobs over 1933-1934 (They built roads and other useful projects,Actors would do free shows, Public work)

Public Works Administration- To create public works of real and lasting value,
- $7 billion was spent on employing skilled men to build dams, bridges, sewage systems and houses
- Between 1933-1939 the PWA built 70 % of American’s schools and 35% of America’s hospitals
What is HOLC + purpose and action (1)
Home Owners Loan Corporation- Prevent people from losing their homes
- Loaned money to a million people to prevent them from losing their houses

Works Progress Administration- To give people work and also help the government develop public services
-Gave work to 2 million people a year, help the dust bowl, gave 7% to create projects for artist, writers, actors and musicians
What is SSA + purpose and action (2)
Social Securities Act - Gives a state pension to everyone over 65. Support handicapped people and mothers with dependent children, also proposed an unemployment insurance scheme to be provided by individual states with aid from the federal government.
-Help the old, sick and unemployed by giving them government money to support them.

The Wagner Act - Introduced by Senator Robert Wagner- supported workers who wanted to form a labour union
-To help workers form unions and prevent employers from sacking workers who were union members.
What is the RA & FSA + purpose and action (2)
Resettlement Administration- Help sharecroppers, tenants or farm workers to move to better land and resettle them in their new houses (RA)To help 500,000 families move to better land
& Farm Security Administration - This was replaced in 1937 by (FSA) which gave loans to sharecroppers and tenant farmers. Despite this help the plight of poor farm workers remained grim during 30s
-Loans to buy their own land, also set up labour camps which helped migrant farm workers to live in better conditions.
