What is the purpose of the technique? What are you measuring? Why?
Purpose is to assess patients strength.
1RM - the maximum amount of weight one can lift in a single repetition for a given exercise
MRM - maximum amount of weight one can lift over a specified number of repetitions
Used to address base strength for rehabilitation
How do you know if the measurement is normal
Compare to previous tests or unaffected side if applicable
What principles are used in carrying out the technique?
Warmup
Correct form/technique
For max effort need 2 min rest
Repeat and incrementally add weight until unable to perform movement or form breaks.
What structures/processes are being assessed
Muscle strength
Precautions/contraindications
Inflammatory conditions of the muscle or joint
Pain
Fatigue
Osteoporosis
DOMS
