How did Amenhotep 4’s religious stuff affect the Egyptian empire?

A

He ignored foreign affairs to pursue religion and lost syria and canaan. Ramses 2 took it back but couldn’t get back the same border. Then in the 1200s BC sea peoples drove back the egyptians and got rid of all egyptian power in Canaan. This basically got rid of the egyptian empire and new kingdom fell in about 1070 bc.
