what is the modernisation theory?

A

there is a link between values and the characteristics of a society

Because values are created in the formative years, the environment in which one grows up is of high relevance, resulting in relatively stable values (socialisation theory)

Security during formative years will lead to more self-expression and secular values and vice versa (scarcity hypothesis)
