what is fried psychoanalytic theory? (internal form of social control)
afraid suggest a moral consciousness and obedience to conform to society expectations and obeying rules is through our superego
superego - morality, rule based, right and wrong = makes us feel guilt
Super ego developed through early socialisation through family it restraints, selfish and animalistic urges that develop through the ID which leads to antisocial and criminal behaviour
how does traditional culture affect our internal forms of social control? 
The culture we belong to becomes a part of our identity through socialisation as we accept the values, norms and traditions
for example, Muslim tradition a fasting through Ramadan and the British values like democracy 
 how is social rules are mortality an internal form of social control?
we socialise through internal rules through agents of socialisation like people (family / friends) and institution (school / religion) they teach us dependence and positive values to follow
Society rules and moral codes become our own personal views therefore conform willingly to social norms 
what are external forms of social control? 
external as social control agencies, organisations and institutions that impose rules making us act a certain way
agencies of social control can offer positive and negative sanctions that can influence our behaviour
how does the criminal justice system act as an external farm of social control?
The police
Have the power to stop search arrest and detain

Officially charged a suspect and take the case to court
Judges and magistrates
Power to bail accused, remind them in custody and also sentence guilty to a variety of different punishment
how can coercion be used as an external form of social control?
Coercion involves the use of threat of force in order to make someone do or stop doing something
This can be a physical or psychological violence
It’s used as an external Pharma social control as sending someone to prison will stop further offending
how is fear of punishment an external form of social control?
fear of punishment achieve social control through conforming to laws
people do not want punishment from the likes of the criminal justice system

Involvement - suggests the more time spent in Laura Biden activities the less likely we are to deviate this can be through sports clubs and youth clubs
Beliefs - we are socialised to conform to laws therefore less likely to break them

highlight the importance of parenting and socialisation as effective socialisation lead to internal containment therefore one is more likely to resist tendencies to offend
Suggest we are all bottom with psychological tendencies that lead to criminal
