Paper chromatogram

A

On a paper chromatogram, pure substances should only have a single spot on a chromatogram.

Impure substances will show up with more than one spot as it is made of more substances.

To identify them, you should carry out paper chromatography with both the known substance and substance you’re testing on the same paper.

If both spots are exactly the same, then you know it is the same.

To identify by calculation of Rf values, you can calculate Rf values.
