The third of the main Mercantilist trait, Direct Democracy is the use of having ONLY citizens make decisions for the country. They wanted this because they could bribe people to change their minds and votes that minorities casted weren’t protected like they are now.

A

Who was Daniel Boone?

A

Daniel was an amazing founder who traveled very far west. He liked being alone and far from everyone else, and he thought of himself as ‘God’s tool for settling land.’

Who was General James Robertson?

A

He was a traveler like Danial Boone, he found Tennessee and helped to settle it.

What happened at Tennessee?

A

Robertson told an authority figure about Tennessee, and they both went there together. According to old stories, they found a small shack in which a married couple lived with their newborn baby. This is believed to be the first baby born that far West.

What happened in 1771?

A

Robertson came back again with 16 families, and they settled in Tennessee. They actually made their own nation called the Republic of Franklin, and it’s government was very similar to the Constitution that would come three years later. Eventually, John Sevier became the first governor of Tennesse as the nation joined the U.S.

What is a ‘Circuit Rider?’

A

A pastor that traveled really far for hundreds of miles, they established schools/churches and they often stopped at towns to give sermons and baptisms.

What did Evan Jones and Daniel Butrich do?

A

They went to live with the Cherokee and learned their language. This made it possible to spread their gospel message.

A

He made the official Cherokee alphabet and Evan Jones used it to translate the bible.

What was the Lewis and Clark Expidition?

A

It was a large traveling expedition arranged by Thomas Jefferson. He assigned Lewis and Clark to buy lands, negotiate with the Indians, and to document the West. Sacajawea also helped Lewis and Clark get to the Pacific Ocean.

A

Unlike the war of independence, this war was only for control.

What was happening with the British during the time?

A

During this time, Britain was actually fighting France but they wanted to get America back as well. They secretly convinced natives to attack and captured ships, but the Americans soon found out.

A

The British and the French each passed an act at this time. First, the British made an act that all trading ships had to stop in GBR, pay a fine, and then get permission ti trade. In response, Napoleon convinced many European countries as well as America to stop trading with England.

A

James Madison, the American president of the time, sided with France and declared war on GBR.

Who was Tecumsuh?

A

Tehcumsuh was a Native-American who rallied up and united several tribes into an army. They wanted to get land back that they idiotically gave away for bottles of whiskey and little money.

A

Several Native-American tribes and the loyalists were on the side of the British.

A

There was no more war in Europe, so Britain was able to focus its fighting on America.

A

He went into Washington DC and lit the White House on fire.

A

Francais Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner, he as on a ship outside of the fighting and watched the conflicts.

What happened on Janurary of 1815?

A

At the end of this month, during the conflict, 2500 British Soldiers died and only 13 Americans died. Turns out that the war was declared over a year ago, but the information took a long time to spread.
