Respiratory System

A

The system where breathing transport oxygen to the blood and carries carbon dioxide away from the blood; 2 parts are lungs & system of tubes that

connect the lungs with outside air

Q

Excretory System

A

The system where waste materials are removed from the blood and converted to urine, the urine collects in the bladder and is leaves the body through urination; kidney and bladder are part of the excretory system

Q

Explain how your body’s cells get the things they need to survive.

A

Blood transports resources to every cells in the body by being pumped through blood vessels to all the cells.
The blood carries food and gases to the cells and carries away the wastes

Q

Describe the steps in digestion.

A
  1. Food is crushed by your teeth and moistened by saliva
  2. Food is then swallowed and passes into the stomach through the esophagus
  3. Digestive liquid and acid turn the food into a thick liquid which passes through the small intestine
  4. The food breaks down into sugars and other nutrients
  5. They then passes through the intestine walls into the blood for transport to the cells
  6. The unused parts of the food pass into the large intestine and colon
  7. Water is removed and waste is turned to solid and is eliminated through the anus

Q

Why is it important for blood to circulate through the lungs?

A

Breathing in will transports oxygen to the blood.
The red blood cells exchange gas oxygen to every cells in the body through the the capillaries
Then the blood carries the waste gas carbon dioxide away from the cells back to the lungs to be breathed out.r f ad.

Q

How are waste products in the blood removed from the body?

A
  1. waste materials are removed from the blood and converted to urine, the urine collects in the bladder and is leaves the body through urination.
  2. blood carries the waste gas carbon dioxide away from the cells back to the lungs to be exhaled

Q

Why is it important to filter waste materials from blood?

A

if the waste materials (dead cells, salt, nitrogen compounds) remained to build up, it would be unfit for the cells to continue living and the human body would become sick and not survive

16
Q

What part of the circulatory system carries oxygen to cells?

A

the capillaries are where the gas oxygen are exchanged to every cells in the body

17
Q

What happens as blood passes through the capillaries in the small intestine?

A

sugars and other nutrients from digested food are passed through the capillaries in the small intestine walls into the blood.
the blood will then transport them to the cells

18
Q

Which side of the heart pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body?

A

the left side of the heart pumps oxygen-rich blood through out the body
