Air for the packs is bled from where?
Normally from the low compressor stage LP. However, at low engine speed when pressure from LP stage is insufficient, the air is automatically switched to the high compressor stage HP.
What is the function of the pack valve?
Pack shut off
Pressure control; normal or high are available. High flow doubles the pack entrance pressure.
What does the pack need to open?
Air pressure and electrical supply. when one is missing, the pack valve is spring-loaded closed.
What happens to the air sucked in by the ground cooling fan?
It passes over the primary and secondary heat exchangers and is exhausted overboard
What would be a likely indication of a ground cooling fan failure?
On the ground Or in flight below 125 kts when they respected pack faults
How is the pressure controlled in the pressurized compartments?
It’s controlled automatically or manually by adjustment of the outflow valve position
What may cause a pack fault?
Valve position disagreement
Overheat (temp >204C) the pack will close automatically
What is the function of the temp control valve?
It controls the amt of hot air entering the mixing chamber, while the pack adds cold air
What controls the temperature?
The electronic temperature controller via temperature control valve
Note: in manual it is controlled directly by the demand selector position
In AUTO mode, duct temp is limited to what temp?
88 C
In MANUAL mode, the duct temp is limited to?
88C but we get an overheat at 92c
Why would a recirc fan fault?
- Low fan RPM

How do outflow valves operate in AUTO mode?
The digital controller generates a signal during all phases of flight.
What does the digital controller use to generate it’s signal to the outflow valves?
- landing elevation (via landing elevation selector)
- take off elevation (controller memorizes it)
- cabin pressure
- aircraft static pressure (via captains air data computer or ADC2 is 1 is broken) compared to 29.92
What does the DITCH PB do?
Two electric motors drive both outflow valves closed
