Mechanism of action of ALBUMIN
Exerts oncotic pressure, which expands volume of circulating blood and maintains cardiac output
Contraindications of ALBUMIN
Hypersensitivity
CHF
Severe anemia
Renal insufficiency
Adverse reactions of ALBUMIN in Cardiovascular
Fluid overload, hypotension, erractic pulse, tachycardia
Adverse reactions for ALBUMIN in respiratory
Altered respirations, pulmonary edema
Adverse reactions of ALBUMIN in CNS
Fever, chills, flushing, headache
Adverse reactions of ALBUMIN in GI
Nausea, vomiting, increased salivation
Administration of ALBUMIN
Slow IV push to prevent fluid overload. Dilute with normal saline
Adult dosage of ALBUMIN
IV 500 ml of 5% as needed
