What is a Bohn’s nodule?
Odontongenic cysts that arise from the dental lamina and are filled with keratin - usually on the alveolar ridge and hard palate
they are located within the connective tissue between the crown of the developing tooth and the oral mucosa
they are asumptomatic and usually rupture/resolve within the frist 3 months of life
What are Epstein pearls?
Epithelial inclusion cysts
They are formed due to the development of the palate and are inclusions in the line of fusion of the palatine processes
What is the histology of a Epstein pearl?
it is a cyst lined by keratinising stratified squamous epithelium
What is this?
Congenital epulis
They are usually located on the maxiallary edentulous ridge of a new born.
It is round, soft and exophytic, which can be very large
80% in females
What is a melanotic neuroectodermal tumour of infancy?
It is a neoplasm of neuroblastic and pigmented epithelial cells of neural crest origin
it is a rapidly growing mass of which 70% present in the anterior maxilla.
80% occur at less than 6months
