  1. If the crash involves injuries, the call taker will initiate a call for service and transfer the caller to JFRD. The Zone Dispatcher will assign the call to a JSO unit and notify FHP. If FHP works the call the Zone Dispatcher will
    make FHP the primary unit on the call. The call shall remain assigned and active for three hours before the Zone Dispatcher closes the call with disposition FHP.
  2. If the crash involves road blockage the call taker will initiate a call for service. The Zone Dispatcher will assign the call to a JSO unit and notify FHP. If FHP works the call the Zone Dispatcher will make FHP the primary unit on
    the call. The call shall remain assigned and active for three hours before the Zone Dispatcher closes the call with disposition FHP.
  3. If the crash does not involve injuries or road blockage the call taker will get the location and transfer the caller to FHP. The call taker will put in the comments “call given to FHP” and any pertinent vehicle or location information. The Zone Dispatcher will assign FHP to the call. The call shall remain assigned and active for three hours before the Zone Dispatcher closes the call with disposition FHP.
  4. Before transferring a call of a crash to FHP the call taker must obtain the following information:
    a. Vehicle description to include color and make if possible;
    b. If the caller is in the parking lot the call taker must determine if the crash actually occurred in the parking lot or on a State Road; and
    c. If at an intersection the call taker must determine which road the crash actually occurred on.

A

A. The PECO shall try to obtain a complete description of the suspicious person and vehicle if the person is in or near one. The PECO shall indicate what actions made the person a Signal 13 (suspicious person).

B. Most of these calls will be sent as a Priority 3, however, the priority is determined by the nature of the subject’s actions and how long he has been in the area.

C. If the complainant is reporting an unknown subject that is trespassing with possible intent for unlawful activity the call shall be sent as a Signal 20 (prowler) Priority 3. Examples would be but not limited to a subject looking in a bedroom window or a subject walking around in the backyard.

    a. If the suspect(s) is still at the scene the PECO shall ascertain if the suspect(s) is still armed.
    b. If the suspect(s) left the scene the PECO shall determine if it was on foot or in a vehicle and obtain a direction of travel. If by vehicle obtain a complete vehicle description (Refer to Unit Procedure 05.109, Receiving Emergency and Non- Emergency Calls, XI. Information Gathering).
  4. Has anyone been drinking or doing drugs? and
  5. Ask the caller what happened or what caused the shooting or stabbing? This information would be especially helpful if the PECO is talking to the possible suspect.
