  3. Give the violator the citation, or if the violator is not present, place the hard copy of the citation in a conspicuous place on the vehicle (i.e., the driver’s side of the vehicle’s windshield, between the tank and seat on motorcycles, etc.);
  4. Only cite one violation per parking citation;
  5. Follow the “Rule of Three” as outlined in Sheriff’s Office written directives in issuing parking citations to a violator;
  6. Forward the white copy to a supervisor before the end of the authorized employee’s tour of duty; and
  7. Keep all yellow copies from the parking citation book together until returned to the Citation Accountability Clerk. This includes voided citations.

If an officer has a parking citation in their possession which should be voided, he shall adhere to the following guidelines:

A
  1. Complete the Report to Void Summons Form (P-0458) including an explanation of why the citation is to be voided;
  2. Attach the white and hard copies of the voided citation to the P-0458 leaving the yellow copy with the citation book. The yellow copy will be submitted with the other yellow copies when the citation book has been completely used;
  3. Submit the voided citation and the P-0458 to be approved by a Watch Commander (must be a Lieutenant or above). Watch Commanders will indicate their approval by placing their signature and ID number on the face of the citation and boldly writing the word VOID on all copies; and
  4. Once approved, the voided citation will be forwarded to the Citation Accountability Clerk through the Zone Commander and a Chief of Patrol. The Citation Accountability Clerk will forward the package to the Clerk of the Court’s Office.

  1. The citation may be voided only by the Chief Judge at the request of a Chief of Patrol;
  2. The issuing officer must be notified;
  3. All copies of the citation must be voided; and
  4. A representative from the Sheriff’s office must attend a special hearing to properly dispose of voided citations as ordered by the Administrating Judge.
