ANS Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the pathway of SNS

A

Short pre and long Post, the pre act as an integration station and can coordinate many inputs and outputs

Q

What is the nucleus of the solitary tract

A

Tract that runs through the retincula formation and terminates in the Pons/Medulla. Will receive input from CN VII, IX and X regarding all taste from the tongue/epiglottis and chemoreceptors/baroreceptors from the aortic arch and carotid bodies

Q

Where are the PNS nuclei located and what is there general functions

A

Ganglion are located in the parasympathetic preganglionic neurons (S1-S5) and in the reticular formation of the cervical region. They act as relay stations only, no complex integration of signals
