303c Flashcards
(7 cards)
What is the function of transmissions? What do they do?
Multiply torque and reduce speed when machine is in high loads
Also has reverse
What is a PTO?
Transmissions provide place where auxiliary power can be drawn
(POWER TAKEOFF)
What’s the difference between power shift and automatic shift?
Automatic transmission allow speed and directional changes with no interruption in the flow of power that is moving the machine
How do the powershift and autoshift transmissions apply their shifting applications?
Powershift- the speed and direction changes and made solely from the operator
Autoshift- the speed and direction changes are made from information from the machines ground speed as well as the operators demand for power
What are the 2 different applications transmission can have for autoshift and powershift?
Cycling
Hauling
What’s the difference between hauling and cycling applications?
Cycling applications are used in more poweshift transmissions and on a machine that is repeating forward and reverse motions. (Loader)
Hauling applications are used more in autoshift transmissions and in machines that are often going forward for extended periods of time. (Dump truck)
