Q

Body Righting Action on the Body (BOB) - (Stim, test position, response, onset, integration)

A
  • stim = passively rotate upper or lower trunk segment
  • test in supine
  • (response) body segment not rotated follows to align the body segments
  • onset = 4-6 months
  • integration = 5 years
17
Q

Protective Extension - (Stim, test position, response, onset, integration)

A
  • stim = displace center of gravity outside base of support
  • test = begins in sitting
  • (response) arms or legs extend and abduct to support and to protect the body against falling
  • onset: Arms = 4-6 months; Legs 6-9 months
  • integration = persists
18
Q

Equilibrium Reactions - Tilting (ER) — (Stim, test position, response, onset, integration)

A
  • Stim = displace the center of gravity by tilting or moving the support surface
  • Test in any position
  • Response = curvature of the trunk towards the upward side along with ext and abd of the extremities on that side; protective extension on the opposite side.
  • Onset: Prone (6 mo), Supine & sitting (7-8 mo), 4 pt (9-12 mo) and standing (12-21 mo)
  • integration = persists.
19
Q

Equilibrium reactions - postural fixation (Stim, test position, response, onset, integration)

A
  • stim = apply a displacing force to the body, altering the center of gravity in its relation to the base of support; can also be observed during voluntary activity
  • test in any position
  • response = curvature of the trunk toward the external force with ext and abd of the extremities on the side to which the force was applied.
  • onset: Prone (6 mo), Supine & sitting (7-8 mo), 4 pt (9-12 mo) and standing (12-21 mo)
  • integration = persists
