what is a species?
A
a group of similar organisms that can reproduce to give fertile offspring.

1) new predator
2) new disease

how does isolation lead to speciation?
A
the population shows variation. when population is separated, they become adapted ti new environment. Those that don’t have the characteristics die and those that do pass down genetic information to offspring. The new species become too different that they cannot reproduce fertile offspring.
