A

BODILY-KINESTHETIC

Then have the client:

Moving around and doing stuff as soon as possible (e.g. while learning exercises)
Having experiences (e.g. going to the grocery store)
Touching and manipulating things (e.g. teaching hands-on cooking skills; using touch cues while showing new skills)
EXISTENTIAL-THEORETICAL

Have clients review their “Capital-P Purpose”, priorities, and values at each session
Give clients a “big idea” to think about at each session (e.g. “Why is it important to make your own goals?” or “What is the ultimate purpose of good nutrition?”)
LOGICAL-MATHEMATICAL

Show client their progress numerically or graphically (e.g. a line chart showing changes in body fat measurements)
Break things down logically for them (e.g. “OK, so, if you want to eat 4 meals a day, then each meal should have X amount of protein and Y amount of vegetables…”).
Give them step-by-step instructions
Give them problems to solve
MUSICAL-RHYTHMIC

Have “power songs” for clients to pump them up, refocus them, or calm them
Use memorable little jingles, verbal cues, or phrases (e.g. PN Coach Krista Schaus refers to the natural discomfort of change as “icky, sticky, sicky”)
Have them “hear” movements (e.g. “Your running stride should sound like paf paf paf paf and not thud thud thud thud.”)
NATURAL-ENVIRONMENTAL

Build outdoor training into their fitness program
Have them go to farmers’ markets or visit an organic farm
