A
A- neutralize gastric acids. Do not coat stomach work systemically. Use- peptic ulcer, indigestion, reflex esophagitis. Ex- amphojel (aluminum hydroxide), mom (magnesium hydroxide), maalox (both). SE- constipation, diarrhea, rebound. Nx- interferes w/ absorption of antibiotics, iron preps, INH, oral contraceptives. Monitor bowel function. 1-2 hrs after eating and other meds

Tx and prevention of heartburn from acid indigestion or sour stomach. H2 blocker. Take with meals. No change in stool color. Acne-like rash. Mild diarrhea
