A

usually good academics
Not able to sit still or inhibit behavior
Hyperactive declines after age 8 and turns into a restlessness
Impulsive does not decline with age

Eval of ADHD

A

comprehensive-need several visits and r/o other diagnoses

interviews with parent and patient

review info from school, day care etc about behaviors

use screening tests/scales filled out by all parties

Oppositional defiant disorder

A

recurrent patterns of negativistic, defiant, disobediant and hostile behavior toward authority figures and at least 4 of the following:
-loses temper, argues with adults, actively defies with adults, deliberately annoys others, blames others, ouchy or easily annoyed, angry and resentful, spiteful and vindictive

behavior must cause significant impairment in social or academic functioning

Conduct disorder

A

repetitive and persistent pattern of behavior in which the basic rights of others or major age appropriate societal norms or rules are violated

additional symptoms: aggression, destruction of property, deceitfulness or theft, serious violations of rules
