About a month ago, I had lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant. Then, I got a coupon for 25% off my next meal.
Today, I got my paycheck from and had some money. So, I decided to go out for lunch.
Because I knew I would get a discount, I ordered the most expensive set.
But when I went to pay, I got a shock . I gave the coupon to the staff. He looked at it. He said, “This expired two days ago.” I had to pay the full price.
He wanted to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time for his business appointment. So, he left home early. The roads were clear, and the traffic was light.
Unfortunately, on the way, his car got a flat tire.
He called a repair service. The repair service arrived and fixed the flat tire. And all in all, it took one hour to get back on the road.
In the end, instead of arriving 30 minutes early, he arrived 30 minutes late for his appointment. Sometimes plans don’t go as we expect.
A girl found an ad for a part-time job in a coffee shop. She made an appointment for an interview.
She went to the coffee shop for the interview. The manager looked puzzled. He said there was no appointment for an interview.
But actually, he needed a new employee. So he decided to offer her the job. The girl accepted the offer.
When she left the shop, she saw a coffee shop next door with a ‘help wanted’ sign in the window. Then she understood the manager’s confusion. She got a job, but at the wrong place.
For the past few years, sales have been low. I was worried that my company was going to go bankrupt.
One day, I happened to pass by a lottery stand. I was desperate. So, I took a chance and spent my last 30,000 yen on lottery tickets.
Business got worse and worse. On the day I was going to file for bankruptcy, the winning number were announced.
By incredible luck, I won the first prize of 300 million yen. I used that money to get my business back on track.
It was Monday morning. I was tired from a busy weekend. I went to the station.
My mind was a bit hazy. I caught the train for my 2-hour commute. Thankfully, I was able to get a seat. I could get some sleep on the train.
When I arrived at my company, no one was there.
I realized that today was a national holiday. It was a 3-day weekend. I was far away from my home. I was at my office in my suit with nothing to do.
I was on a business trip. I had a meeting at 9:00 the next morning. At the hotel, I set my alarm clock for 7:00 and went to bed.
I woke up. Then, I looked at my clock. It was already 8:30! I was going to be late.
I checked my alarm clock. And I figured out what had happened. I had set my alarm clock for 7:00 pm instead of 7:00 am.
I got changed as fast as possible. I didn’t shave and dashed to the meeting. Somehow, I made it in time.
There are four people in my family. My son and daughter are both in high school.
My sife is a homemaker. Every day, she prepares homemade lunches for the family to take with us.
One morning, because there was a meeting, I was in a hurry. I picked up my lunch from the kitchen table. And I left.
After the meeting finished, my coworkers and I all took out our lunches. By mistake, I had taken my daughter’s lunch. It was a small box with a picture of Hello Puppy on it. I blushed with embarrassment.
I have trouble getting up on time in the morning. Because of that, I always set my alarm clock. I want to make sure I get up on time and don’t oversleep.
The other day, I went on a business trip to Hong Kong. I arrived at midnight. I had a meeting early the next morning. So, I set my alarm clock and went to bed.
I woke up on time.
When I arrived at the meeting, people looked at me and then at the clock. Then, I realized there is a one- hour time difference between Japan and Hong Kong.
I have poor eyesight, so I have to wear glasses. Recenetly, I started wearing contact lenses. But I always bring my glasses with me, just in case.
One night, I was working late at the office. My eyes were getting tired from looking at the computer screen. So, I decided to take out my contacts and put on my glasses. I took out my contacts and threw them way.
I opened my bag to take out my glasses, but they weren’t in my bag.
Without my glasses, I could hardly see anything and couldn’t continue working. So, I went home.
I woke up late this morning. I had to rush to work for an urgent meeting, so I skipped breakfast.
Luckily, I arrived in time. I sat down at the meeting. We were all quiet while we waited for the section chief to begin his presentation.
Suddenly, I felt very hungry, and my stomach started to rumble. It happened not just once but many times, even during the presentation.
We finished the meeting just before noon. The section chief looked at me and said, “Enjoy your lunch! Hunger is the best sauce.” Everyone laughed except me.
In the morning, I got on the train as usual and went to the office. Because I had a meeting with the president that day, I was wearing my best suit.
When I arrived at my station, I exited the ticket gate. Then, I noticed something fall beside me. At first, I thought it was raining.
I looked up to the sky, but it was a clear, sunny day. Then I saw a crow flying overhead. That’s when I noticed bird droppings on my sholder.
I rushed into the nearest restroom and wiped it off.
It was late at night. There were many passengers on the last train. Everyone was tired. Many passengers were sleeping or looking at their smartphones.
Suddenly, someone’s phone started ringing. Everyone looked around and at each other. But the phone kept ringing.
People began to get annoyed. They looked around to see whose it was. But the phone kept ringing. Eventually, a woman realized the phone was in a bag in the overhead luggage rack. Someone had left their bag on the train.
The woman answered the phone. It was the man who had left his bag behind!
