  • Nixon created CREEP, to secure his re-election
  • June 1972 , 5 CREEP Members break into the Democratic party headquarters and arrested
  • James McCord, one of the members revealed it was a White-House coverup
  • Nixon initially denied government involvement
  • Nixon admitted his two top advisors were involved; they resigned
  • Senate investigations were conducted and televised
  • Nixon was demanded to release white house tapes
  • Nixon releases the tapes, however they are edited with 18 minutes of missing footage
  • Nixon forced to release full unedited tapes proving his involvement in the coverup
  • Resigned to avoid impeachment
  • Pardoned by Gerald Ford
