Elie was punished because he saw Idek and a young Polish girl half naked on a straw mat. His punishment was to lie down on a crate and was whipped (25 times)
Why does Elie question who God is?
One man wonders how God could be present in a world with such cruelty. Eliezer, mourning, thinks that, as far as he is concerned, God has been murdered on the gallows together with the child.
