4.2 Flashcards
Helicase does what
Then what
Unzips Double Helix DNA
It goes into two strands that are primed by primase then has sections of it added or replaced by DNA 1 and 3 then put together by ligase.
What does DNA 3 do
Repairs restores removes
What does DNA 1 do
Main builder of the DNA and the bases
lagging has okazaki strands why
it has them because it cant do it all at once like the leading strand can. It has to do it in sections going away from the helicase while leading goes to the helicase
what is the order of these operations
helicase primase DNA 1 DNA 3 ligase
antiparralel means
the strands go in opposite directions
leading is lagging is
5-3 3-5
how are mistakes fixed in DNA replication
the DNA 3 comes and replaces the bumps or the mistakes
how do strands compare to the original
identical
what bond is broken in the unzipping process
Hydrogen
