Q

Hormones- ADH

A

Anti diuretic hormone- regulates water excretion from the kidneys synthesized in the anterior hypothalamus.
When serum osmolality ⬆️ ADH is produced, causing the collecting ducts to become more permeable to water.

Q

Hormones- RAAS System

A

Renin-angiotensin Aldosterone system
Changes in renal perfusion initiates RAAS system. If bl flow or pressure to the kidneys ⬇️, renin is released. Renin causes the conversion of angio - angio I, then to angio II by ACE released by the lungs. Angio II promotes vasoconstriction & acts on nephrons to promote Na & h2o retention. Also stimulates the release of aldosterone, which also promotes Na retention. Restores bl volume and renal perfusion thru Na and h2o retention.
