If you live with a smoker, is there a possibility of getting all these side effects?
Yes this is called secondary smoking. It is where smoke enters your body even though you may not smoke.
What visible affects does smoking have on your body?
Your fingers and teeth yellow; you smell bad; you age early (premature aging); you have a shorter life; lose you sense of smell and taste; skin cracks
What happens to the alveoli?
The tar in the cigarette goes down into your lungs and clogs up the alveoli. This decreases the surface area of the lungs and less oxygen can pass though I to the blood.
What happens if you smoke while pregnant?
Smoking can cause miscarriages; premature birth; still borns; the baby could be born addicted to drugs; it can also cause you fertility problems
Name three places smoking can cause cancer.
Lungs; mouth; Oesophagus; larynx; throat; Kidney; bladder; liver; pancreas; stomach; cervix; rectum; colon;
What can smoking do to you bones?
It makes them brittle and it means that they will break easier
Why is tar so dangerous?
Tar not only suffocates the alveoli but is full of cancerous chemicals that really shouldn’t be in your body.
What are the dangers of nicotine?
Name three.
Increased blood pressure; heart attacks; stroke; respiratory illness; you cannot quit it (extremely addictive)
