How would you describe “Scale”?

A

When an object or place is drawn smaller than in real life

What makes large scale maps of the world difficult?

A
  1. It is difficult to draw a round object on a flat surface.

2. It is impossible to draw one map that is accurate for size, shape and direction between places

A

When a map depicts a small territory.
The area is being scaled down less
The scale is larger

When is something a Small Scale Map?

A

When a map depicts a large area (like a whole country!!)
To fit the whole country onto the map it is scaled down ALOT
The scale is small

A

Large scale maps = lots of detail

Small scale maps = less detail
