Sandoval Decision
1897: US Supreme Court ruled that ejidos were not held in common by land grand communities in NM. Ownership of ejido lands transferred to US Gov and became US forest service or BLM.

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
1848 - 529,017 square miles of Mexico became part of the US overnight. Mexico lost 40% of its land, US paind $18 million.
Gadsden Purchase
1854 - US bought 29,670 square miles from Mexico for 10 Million. Mesilla Valley farmland, a route for a 2nd transcontinental railroad.
